Academic Updates: HC Changes and Course Preparation
This post contains a few academic updates as you prepare for the new semester, including HC changes and summer prep for Cores and Concentration courses.
HC Changes: There are no substantial changes this year (no deletions, name changes, mergers, or new HCs), however, a handful of HCs received minor yet noteworthy updates over the summer: #variables, #correlation, #designthinking, #testability, #leadprinciples, #nudge, #carrotandstick, #pyschologicalexplanation. Please see this document that describes the changes. Forum is now updated with the revised paragraphs and rubrics.
HC Resources: While familiarizing yourself with the HC updates, take this time to review the abundance of HC resources available to you and to students, particularly on the Hub’s HC Resources page and this subpage with all of the most recent versions of the custom HC guides/whitepapers written by your professors. These guides will serve as great refreshers as you are continuing to practice the HCs in your upper-level courses. There are even some new non-HC-specific learning resources listed toward the bottom of the page that you should check out.
Hub Reorganization and Summer Prep: The Academics pages on The Hub (in myMinerva) have been rearranged so that all of the upper-level course syllabi and course prep now live under the College pages (Academics → Colleges) and the Curriculum page has been streamlined accordingly. It's not too late to begin preparing for the courses you'll be taking this fall so please take some time to review the prep work that is expected of you.
Best wishes for the beginning of a new school year!
