SSS Resources and Sign-ups
Dear M26s, congratulations on making it through your first week of class and SSS! Your professors are impressed with your preparedness and enthusiasm! We're on a roll now so let's keep it going.
A couple of reminders for those of you who attended the SSS for writing or programming this week:
- You can still access all the material from the sessions afterward. Review the "After the session" section of the syllabus for instructions and let your Peer Tutors know if you have any questions. Especially for the programming SSS, we recommend trying the tasks in the Exercise notebook to reinforce your skills. Links to the syllabi and all resources are on The Hub's SSS page.
- Some of the sessions have light readings, videos, and pre-class work exercises that we expect you to do before arriving. These will help ensure that you can make the most of the hour with your classmates and Peer Tutor, so please set aside some time for this pre-work.
For those of you who are not registered for the sessions, but would like to sign up next week, simply review the information on The Hub and submit the sign-up form. You can submit this on any week that you’d like to attend, and we'll do our best to add you to a class in Forum. Note that there might be some pre-work as mentioned above. Week 2's SSSs will be EXTRA HELPFUL for your Cornerstones!
- In the writing SSS on Monday, you'll be covering Minerva-specific writing skills, including how to write concise, clear, and complete POLLS and FOOTNOTES.
- In the programming SSS on Wednesday, you'll be learning some essential coding concepts like loops, functions, and commenting code.
We hope that you take advantage of these sessions and the office hours held by your Peer Tutors to stay on top of your writing and programming skills.
