Note-taking Workshop for Successful Learning at Minerva
Coming up during week 5, Minerva upperclassmen will lead workshops on note-taking strategies. Come learn about why and how you should take effective notes for your Cornerstone classes and beyond to maximize your learning!
The 75-minute workshop, led by Minerva upperclassmen, will be offered two times during Week 5. Capacity is limited, so please RSVP before Sunday, October 2. First come, first serve!
- Option 1: Tuesday, October 4, 3:30 pm Pacific Time, RSVP here.
- Option 2: Thursday, October 6, 3:30 pm Pacific Time, RSVP here.
Workshop Overview: During the workshop, you’ll explore different note-taking purposes, strategies, and tools, as suggested by research findings based in the #scienceoflearning and Minervans themselves. You’ll have a chance to consider the effectiveness of these approaches in comparison to the strategies that you are currently employing, thereby identifying ways to improve your note-taking habits.
Motivation: With all the novelty and excitement of Foundation Year, classes can also get a bit overwhelming, especially if you are not used to active learning methods. Notes can make things easier to digest. Taking effective notes for your class preparation can help you better understand the concepts you are reading about, allow you to review important content later on, and retrieve information more easily. Beyond classes, taking good notes is a surprisingly valuable soft skill useful for meetings and keeping up with work. Don’t wait until next semester or next year to form good note-taking habits. Join us during week 5 to build the note-taking skills that will make your Minerva years slightly easier to handle.
